The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way. Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your child’s success in a particular age range, I am glad to discuss your child’s needs and work with you to place your child in the class best suited to him or her.
At certain times throughout each semester, I am happy to have your child come to a free trial class. Free demo classes for you and interested friends are usually held every semester. Please call for further information.
Although you may join our classes at any time, please enrol early as class sizes are limited and many fill quickly. Enrolling at least 2 weeks before the semester begins also ensures that I will have your child’s 'At Home' materials for you at your first class. If you enrol after the semester begins, tuition will be pro-rated accordingly. Enrolments are on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event that your preferred class is full, you will be contacted and given the option to attend another class time or reserve your place in a class for the following semester. Note: Alternate times are dependent on minimum class numbers - please spread the word to other parents so that I can offer you an alternate time!
An enrolment form and deposit must be received before enrolment can be confirmed. You will receive a phone call, E-mail or letter within 7 days to confirm your enrolment.
Tuition refunds may be given if there are extenuating circumstances
requiring withdrawal from class. All refund requests will be considered on an
individual basis. The cost of opened materials and a $20 processing fee are
non-refundable.
____________________________________________
Please do not attend classes if you or your child are ill or have the following: fever in the last 24 hours, thick, runny nose, persistent cough, or contagious
disease. Our health depends on you!
The courtesy of a brief phone call or email notifying me of your absence is
much appreciated (but not required!), so I know that you and your little one
are okay! I am happy to offer make-up classes if there are classes available.
Village and Our Time classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a baby capsule, pram or stroller. This allows the parent to give their full attention to their child and gain maximum benefit from the class. In the case of an emergency, exceptions are considered.
We are so excited that you and your child will be joining us for this upcoming semester of classes! It will be a wonderful time of learning, bonding, and fun!
Plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving early provides time for children to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. We do request that toys, drinks etc. be kept out of sight, and that snacks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be
an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend
several classes before feeling comfortable in class.
Don’t be discouraged.
What a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the
home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class.
The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at
home is the key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
By the way, I love parents to chat and visit before and after class, but please not during class time, please!
When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic participant in class activities, your child will follow your actions and focus more fully too. In this way, you and your child will gain most from your investment in Kindermusik.
What sets Kindermusik apart from other programs is that it is 'child-centered'.
Every Kindermusik experience is unique. You and your child will experience
each activity in your own way that will be different from anyone else in the
class. Tailoring each activity to fit your child's stage of development, personality,
and temperament will help him or her to participate fully in class and reap the most
benefits.
You and your child will benefit enormously from the Kindermusik experience,
especially if you actively use your 'At Home' materials. Continual encouragement
to participate in activities at home throughout the week makes all the difference
in a child's comfort and participation in the classroom.
Above all, let's have fun and enjoy this very special time with your little one!
